back from the mountains.... one heck of an experience....
i love it there man... really one cool place....
now for the day to day breakdown...
Day 1:
delayed flight... sat in the gate playing bridge.... argh i hate China Eastern....
tried sleeping in 20 different positions, couldn't get to sleep at all...
sat in the Kunming terminal playing bridge too..
the flight to lijiang was ok, and had super views of mountains, fields and all. (Photos above...)
went to the old village after lunch, nice horse carriage ride, hate the smell though... doesnt' help when u see a horse piss in front of you.....
Day2:
briefing changed so much... suddenly there were more pple to plan for, more pple to accomodate...
went to another old town and shopped a bit here... thought i left my camera in a shop only to find it in my bag... with zero batt left...
sigh...
Day3-4: Life in the Village:
When i was going there, i thought omg i was going to really suffer for two days...
how wrong i was...
the kids are just so different from us... carefree and all, no social politics, no hating each other... just good strong communal bonds. something that we all can learn from...
icebreakers were fun, changed from whacko to bangra dancing.. and singing...
food there is better than our restaurant food in lijiang... seriously...
our concert that night was great... guitars by timmies and yichen... host by ryan huang.. singing tonghua was great, especially with the kids singing with us.
den the electricity died....
no matter, take up some wood, start a fire, and do some Naxi dances!!
really dancing around the fire was a great experience, though it left us sweaty and tired.. i experinced how carefree they were, and how the wanted to share their life with us...
next day, woke up with the cold air around and the smell of the toilets....
learning activites... teaching the kids english was cool.... i now understand how hard it is to be teachers...
we also taught them bout singapore, bout who we are... bout lepaking...
more games and more games... and we beat the teachers in a soccer match 5-4... although we were like unable to breathe after 40 mins...
the labour day concert was interesting, with both traditional and hip-hop performances... leading to khing's liquid dance...
haha there were also scandals, which i will not name here...
leaving the village was hard, with the whole school lining up to say bye... it was really sad and all....
now to continue touring...
Day5:
went to Tiger Leaping Gorge... walked 2.5k to see water...
Day6:
Went to the Snow mtns... freaking cold up there, and we need the oxygen... which has a perfectly inelastic demand... dots..
ski lifts were fun.. but lepaking in the bus is better...
flight to Kunming... argh...
customs pple ransacked my bag for a can of deo.... and just left me there with my stuff all over the place...
got on the plane, saw portugese words on it... damn second hand plane... you know something is not good when your plane takes off and suddenly goes down again... and the girls at the back screaming isn't comforting too... freaking turbulance...
Met with the P'NUK pple at the hotel, and found out it was in the red-light district... raunchy...
Day7:
Dounan flower market, great stuff to look at, not buy.
went to pizza hut to eat, than went shopping,
shopping there sucked... only stuff i bought was fake shirts... stupid pple try to snook me, 180 for one shirt... got it down to 30....
had the best food (Western buffet) for dinner, only short coming was the HONG HE ice-cream.... chocolate with cigarette smells...
at kunming airport... can't even get a stupid fragile sticker on my luggage... nice shattered glass...
and there was this chiko pei who smashed into rongxing and me... scared her so much she sat between me and kunhan..
well it's the end, and i enjoyed it superbly...
election time..

thank God it's over man...
the last two weeks have been super taxing on me...
council campaign + BB meetings + Lijiang stuff + homework = a heck lot of stress....
thanks to everyone who voted for me yeh.... now we wait...
we had to re-vote thanks to a printing cock-up....
but i think 37 is a cursed number.... the most frequent number seen on the negative column...
sigh....
i'm leaving on a jet plane.... at 0300 hrs (!!!)
sigh time passes so fast and furious...

this is kinda shamless but i need to let all you pple reading this blog why you should vote for me yeh...

Firstly i think it's time for me to do something for all of us pple who pass through these rusting gates every morning. I didn't become a prefect in sec 3 cos i didn't want to bother myself with these stuff and basically, i was kinda lazy lah... So now, as i grown out of the slack mode, i believe it's my time to stand up.
I know many of you have many complains and all against the system now. Many of you don't like the timetable. Some of you are not happy and kinda cynical about the uses of a student council and all. Some of you think that most people run to be famous, to be popular and all. But i can tell you, we are not here to be popular or what. We are here to help.
You can be assured that if you put me in the council, i will work my socks (literarily) off for all of you. This might sound cliched or whatever, but i will truly BE YOUR VOICE!!! Some of you may not like to directly talk to higher authority about matters that concern your welfare and your 2 years in this school. Voice it to me, and i will do my darnest to get those matters addressed to the best of the council's ability. You need someone in the council who will really push for your benefit, your welfare, who will get things done in YOUR interest.
Why do i emphasize YOU? Well, i firmly believe that a council should stand for YOUR interest, not ours. A student council is meant to be amongst the students, to help the students.
As a brand-new council, i hope to start a new image, a new identity, something we can be proud of and look back with pride. It's not bout copying what others have done, if we do that than we will not be able to relate to it. It's about being different, being new, cultivating the ACSpirit in all of us!
Well maybe it's too late to change your opinions and all, but i hope that you will vote with your heads. If you want a new identity, a strong voice to represent yourselves, then vote me (Jon Low) for your new council. Make this school a place you really want to be in!

tomorrow have OEP shopping trip..
and the campaign ends tmr.. gotta clear up and all, plus remove my smudged banner... haha
