da sliva's goal was bad defending, the second goal was farcial. and england took 91 mins to make the Croatian keeper save something.

lampard was anonymous, rooney was slightly better but still off-form, crouch had no service, everyone looked all over the place.
So the 3-5-2 flunked big time. Why didn't he try this out against Macedonia? You don't chop and change during an important trip to Zagreb. England had no imagination, no shape, and none of what captain Terry said about heart and spirit and all. Nothing at all. They were completly outplayed by Croatia, no question.
The biggest blame has to be on McClaren. Hopefully he hasn't been infected by the Sven curse. The one that makes you emotionless and unable to react to change.
By dropping Beckham he hoped to show that he was selecting based on merit, not reputation. Well that obviously isn't true for all. Lampard should be dropped, cause he has been rubbish for England. Rooney should also be benched, in favour for defoe or bent.
If you want to play Crouch, you need someone to deliever crosses, and the only person that can do that is Beckham, which is why i favour Beckham being at least in the 23. His dead-ball skills, and crossing, and most importantly, his pride in wearing the white shirt is really needed in times like these.
For the sake of England, and the Euro 2008 qualification. Please please please play with some urgency, and please play 4-4-2.
