Pirates of the Carribean, At World's End....
Thoughts from this show...
1) Singapore in the colonial period is, way cool!
2) The difference between the living and the dead is, well, the water...
3) Going down with the ship has never been so dramatic... touching the railing just before it blows us, watching your crew either get blown up, or jumping overboard while you calmly tread down the deck, stuff of legends!
4) A pirate is as good as a minister. just ask will and lizzie...
5) Hallucinating about many copies of yourself isn't the worst thing in the world....
6) There is a limit on how much you can use CGI in one movie before it turns bad...
all in all, a decent show, draggy but worth watching for the acting of Depp, Rush and Keira...
the start of the hols = the end of freedom? ironic...

When i was in sec 1-4, everytime i had free time, i would do something fun. I was this hyperactive guy who wanted to do everything and anything before either lights-out in boarding, or at home. I could go ages without sleeping. I never slept in class no matter how boring it was. never.
then came yrs 5-6.
Now i can hardly drag myself to school, to come into range of biomedical physics...
(like Paddy Clarke, i will know have a not-so-random shift in my train of thought)
Why are we doing biomed physics? stuff about how the ear works and biomechanics? Hell even the bio HL pple don't do this. and seriously. Our physics teachers are trying their very best to teach something they haven't taught before. Is this fair on them, and on us? We took physics to escape the horrors of Pre-IB bio, and now it bites us in the ass.
(back to the train)
to look at the broken clock, counting the number of seconds before the bell rings for recess. Everything seems to been so bleddy sian.
IB was put to us very simply
" Only 30% weightage on exams!"
" Less mugging, more interactive learning!"
" Something brand new! Preferential admissions to unis!"
really?
Forgive me the ranting, i didn't have my necessary 30 min of pre-assembly sleep. That's why i felt so sleepy throughout the day. and rather moody too.
There was a time
where assembly started at 7.40 or later
yes there was.
There was a time
where 20 steps separated us from assembly
yes there was
Now leh?
7.20 assemblies, walking with congested people up and down stairs.
haha nothing else to rant. need to finish paddy clarke haha

Something is wrong with my stupid blogger.
argh wth...
today we had EL A1 P2, questions on setting or characterization. Needless to say that i chose the characterization one. I don't understand why people want to do the setting one. Maybe it's because i hate setting and questions on it. I just don't know why.
Hated those lit qns that had setting in it.
Went out for lunch with minyang, kd, ash and sam. had fun laughing at kd. what's new?
went to the library, and got a few doonesbury books. love doonesbury, despite it's obviously liberal-leaning slant.
Mr Blair is stepping down soon, and i feel that he doesn't deserve all the brickbats about Iraq. Instead, Brits should look at his numerous achievements (i.e successful peace missions in Kosovo, reducing unemployment and generally reviving the prestige of the UK in the world). He was, at least willing to admit that mistakes were made in Iraq, unlike his counterpart across the pond.
Haiz i'm tired.

fridays are sacred. It's the only day in which we spend more time at home awake than in school
However, following Le Chatelier's Principle, this will lead to an equilibrium shift to the (more hours in school) side. Thus, equilibrium is restored.
ok i'm cranky now, never stayed up this late to revise an exam, not talking about a test....
what the hell who can remember all the quotes in Huck Finn, Siddhartha and Paddy Clarke? this is madness....
on the bright side, life may be turning around somewhat!

i find it weird that we have so much periods in school, and we can't find a better time to have a EL test than at 4pm on a Monday afternoon.
?
Spidey-3 is worth watching, but it was kinda predictable. But good fight-scenes, decent story. yeah go catch it..
and why am i the only guy that thinks the corrupted Peter Parker is actually kinda cool? For Tobey Maguire to break out of the 'nerdy guy' role to a arrogant asshole is actually quite interesting,
this is a ramble.
i'm kinda looking forward to POTC, Fantastic 4 and Harry Potter now,
i'm physically a wreck now. mentally not yet...
damn you, the establishment. It's the only one where the stress is year-round, not only during the important periods. one after another after another, the flow never stops. there's no way to take a break, now taking a break seems unnatural. Our social life is a mess, and after years, the environment hasn't changed, and we're becoming worse and worse. life's a drag, and the only exit seems to be not much better.
not a bad alternative after all?
It's impossible to get the best of both into one. Never. You have chosen to pursue this route, than change your bloody mindset! This cannot succeed if we continue to retain so much of the old stuff. Everything has become more rigid than less, as there are so much stuff we need to follow. Creativity has been released, but only with stringent rules. Is that creativity anymore?
haha i'll be so happy to go into uni. I swear.
on a happy note...
CAMPIONE, CAMPIONE, OLE OLE OLE!!!
Yes we are the Champions!
haha kudos to Mourinho after the Arsenal match, he told the Chelsea fans to cheer the players, not him, and to keep their chin up. Champions are only really tested after failure.
However, i think that he might not be there after this season. If that happens, shame on Abrahomivic, Kenyon and all...

That was disgraceful, no other words for it.
No fire, no cut-throat offense, no answer.
but all Man U fans should take a step back and appreciate the good run in Europe, as compared to the last 3 seasons. Despite the uncharacteristic collapse in Milan, i think that United have improved in Europe, and this improvement is encouraging.
Tmr is the test day!

Milan AC (2) vs Manchester United (3)
This game should be more absorbing that the rather stale all-England semi-final. Milan know that United's backline is, well, makeshift, and that they need to score. Although Vidic and Ferdinand may be back, expecting them to hold up against Kaka and co. (who must score) and not being 100% match-fit may be a bit risky. I would possibly play one of them (the most match-fit one) for maybe an hour, before re-assessing to see whether there is a need to send on the other one.
Much has been made of Milan's relative lack of injury problems. However, i feel that the absence of Maldini will be crucial. When he (and Gattuso, who is expected to play) is out, the Milan defence crumbled against the United onslaught. Missing Maldini must not be underestimated, and the aging Milan backline might not be able to keep out the quick and pacy United attack, led by Ronaldo and Rooney, orchestrated by Scholes and Carrick. A goal here for United might be enough, as i don't really see Milan scoring twice. Gilardino and Inzaghi don't exactly scare defences, and i think Milan's goals will come from Kaka and maybe Seedorf.
The same thing cannot be said of United, who can score from anywhere (Ronaldo, Rooney, Smith, Giggs, Scholes,).
The point that no one had talked about was the yellow-card factor. Scholes, Ronaldo both have a yellow card, meaning that if they pick up another one, they would be suspended from the final (if they make it there). Will that play on their head?
I can see United scoring in Milan, ever since Roma they have been scoring for fun. However, their leaky backline (i forgot when they last kept a clean sheet) is a problem. If Kaka can score twice at OT, he can do it in Milan.
Prediction? My heart says United, and so does my head (although on a much thinner edge). 1-1, with United equalizing in the 2nd half.

AT LAST!
i can understand (and do) a Chem HL WS on Analytic Chemistry!!! yes yes yes...
all the mugging (and giving up Spidey 3 has sorta paid off... haha)
Liverpool 1-0 Chelsea (Liverpool win 4-1 on penalties)
It can be said that Chelsea is more of a marathon runner than Liverpool (who are good like in short spurts in cup competitions). Credit must go to Benitez for out-smarting Moan-rinho on the European stage yet again.
Although i think Mourinho will go at the end of the season (due to Abrahmovic and Kenyon, and maybe Arnsen), i still think that he is a fantastic manager, a breath of fresh air into a relative stagnant EPL. It can be said that Chelsea without Mourinho is as good as leaderless. Ranieri had the same backbone as Mourinho, but yet did not come close to matching the achievements of the Portuguese Man-of-war. It was him that transformed the good signings made by Ranieri (i believe so) into a working and consistent team. Sacking Mourinho might lead to massive player defections with him. Not a good idea.
Liverpool have proven themselves to be a force in Europe, and mostly in the domestic cup competitions. However, i feel that they are lacking at home in the EPL. No use buying players to win the Champions League, when you stink at home. Although Pool fans might love to win the cups, but deep down they want the EPL title back at Anfield after God knows how long. In order for Benitez to be in the elite group (Shankly and Paisely), he needs to win the EPL, bad. The aim is to get a good supporting cast. Gerrard, Alonso, Kuyt will be fine. Gonzalez, Pennant, Zenden, not so. The inflow of cash by the American sponsors need to be spent on good and proven back-ups (not the big shot striker).
