Happy Teachers' Day! Haha
Thanks for all the time and patience!
Rome, 408 AD.
'Stillcho is dead!' screamed the courtiers. The only capable Roman general in the Emperor's employ, dead at the hands of anti-barbarian plotters.
The Emperor wasted no time in asserting his authority. All mention of Stillcho would be banned. All the people would proclaim now was the name of Honorius, by the Grace of God, Roman Emperor in the West. Dissent was to be clamped down, the foederati of the army driven back to the wastes they belonged to.
Servants of the Emperor certainly did their work well. Dissent was quashed, rebels hung in the streets with no chance for clemency. The Empire which stood for meritocracy, and compassion for all was now degrading into brutality, dictatorship.
The men of the foederati, men not of Roman blood, but who had bled and fought in the name of the Empire couldn't take such repression anymore Their freedom' compromised, the only way forward was to take matters into their own hands.
No more was their loyalty to the Emperor, who had treated them like experimental and sacrificial pigs. No more was their loyalty to the men who ran the nepotic empire. Their loyalty was to their comrades, loyalty to the sacred Empire, that they were trying to free..
haha some randomness
